The choirs of the Orfeó Català will be giving performances throughout the day and discounts on tickets will be available

The Palau de la Música Catalana is to hold its traditional open day (Jornada de Portes Obertes) from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 21st June, joining in with the celebrations for International Music Day. This event is open to all, and is expected to repeat the success of previous years, when over 4,000 visitors came. In order to introduce visitors to the choirs of the Orfeó Català, singers from the different house ensembles will be performing on the stage in the Concert Auditorium every half hour, accompanied by the pianist Josep Buforn. Moreover, all those who come along to the open day can buy – in person, at the Palau box office – tickets to concerts in the 2014-15 season organised by the Fundació Orfeó Català Català-Palau de la Música Catalana at a discount.

During the 5 hours the open day lasts, visitors can go into the Concert Auditorium (stalls and upper circle), the venue for major concerts and events; the Lluís Millet Room, the emblematic room for breaks on the first floor; the Orfeó Català Rehearsal Room, a cosy, intimate space where the first stone to be laid of the Palau is located, and the Petit Palau. Like last year, when it was very popular with the public, the Orfeó Català Documentation Centre will once again be offering guided tours of its facilities, located on the 5th floor of the Palau, where papers going back to the 12th century are kept. Visitors can also see the “Women and Music” exhibition, commissioned by the Documentation Centre, in the Palau foyer.
