Biography
Cor Infantil by Orfeó Català
Part of the Escola Coral of the Orfeó Català, it is made up of fifty-three singers aged from eleven to fifteen. It was founded, and conducted until 2008, by Elisenda Carrasco i Ribot. Since then Glòria Coma i Pedrals has been the conductor and Pau Casan the pianist, and it has performed around Spain and Europe.
It has worked with prestigious orchestras and choirs, including the Orquestra Nacional de Cambra d’Andorra, Orquestra de Bilbao, Rundfunksinfonieorchester, RIAS Kammerchor and the Monteverdi Choir with the English Baroque Soloists. It has also worked with conductors including Erkki Pohjola and Pasi Hyökki, Manuel Valdivieso, Marzio Conti, Juan José Mena, Marek Janowski, Sir J. E. Gardiner, S. Bychkov, Z. Mehta, Víctor Pablo Pérez and Pablo González, among others.
It has taken part in opera productions at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, premiered El bosc de Farucàrum at the Teatre Lliure, worked with the company Comediants, and with the stage director Dani Coma on the show Encants del món; it has recorded for Catalunya Música and been featured on the CDs European Christmas Songs, Germanies by Lluís Llach, Cantem aquest Nadal and the cantata L’assemblea dels infants by J. A. Amargós, as well as recording the solo CDs Encants del món and Cançons per a la mainada.
In 2013 it won third prize in the children's choir category at the Cantonigròs International Music Festival Competition.
During the 2014-15 season the Cor Infantil performed on the soundtrack of The Lord of the Rings by Howard Shore together with the Cor Jove of the Orfeó Català and the Cor Jove dels Països Catalans, in the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona Nacional de Catalunya season.
