Tandem Schools Project
Escoles-Tàndem is a project initiated by the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera and consists of linking a Spanish cultural or scientific institution with a school of a different complexity. Through the implementation of the 2017-2019 Tandem Project, involving the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Pere Vila School and supervised by the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera, the aim is to promote music, specifically vocal and choral practice, as the central axis of the educational curriculum at the primary school, which is also located in the Ciutat Vella quarter of Barcelona.
The intention is for the Pere Vila School to acquire its own identity with regards to voice and choral singing in order to make it unique and more attractive, thereby contributing a better internal and external perception of the school. The aim is for voice and choral singing to be the transversal axis around which the basic skills of the pupils are developed.
In order to achieve this, the different departments of the Palau de la Música Catalana are involved, headed by the Clavé XXI project and its directors, and the entire school community is actively participating, particularly the teachers but also the families and the school’s immediate community. Only with the empowerment of the school community can the transformative process of the school be consolidated.
The overall objective of the project is to increase motivation and improve the academic performance of all the pupils at the school in their acquisition of basic skills. By achieving this goal, the aim is to simultaneously give the school prestige and improve its general dynamic.
